Midnight Harvest review: how far up the field?
Eight rows of pumpkins, a flock of ravens and one question asked over and over: take the harvest now, or climb one more row? Here is how to play Midnight Harvest with a plan.

Midnight Harvest is a tower game by Nocturn Play in which you climb a field of 8 rows of pumpkins, picking one pumpkin per row and avoiding the ravens. Golden pumpkins move you up and raise your multiplier, while a raven wipes out the harvest; the moment a row is behind you, collecting is an option. You choose how dangerous the field is by picking one of three nights, and the Harvest Moon at the very top pays up to 2,500× the bet. Free play is available on nocturnplay.com.
A Halloween postcard
The art could hang on a wall in October. A full moon lights a misty hill dotted with pumpkins, a crooked tree leans over a stone path, an ornate iron gate glows with lanterns and a gothic house looks down from the ridge. The Lantern Keeper, a scarecrow with a carved pumpkin for a head and a smile that never quite fades, leans on his staff by the field. Ravens perch on the fence and take off when a pick goes wrong.
What kind of game is it?
If you have played mines or tower games, you will feel at home. Instead of spinning, you make a series of small choices, and the reward for each correct choice is a higher multiplier plus the option to leave. Midnight Harvest adds two twists of its own: the choice of night before you start, and lantern pumpkins that can rescue you from a raven.
Step by step through a round
1. Set the stake and the night. Calm hides 1 raven in each row of 4, Mist hides 2 and Moonless hides 3.
2. Press Play. The bottom row glows. The field, with all its ravens and lanterns, has already been drawn by the server at this moment.
3. Pick a pumpkin. Tap one, or press Random. Gold lights up and you move to the next row; the tag beside the row you just cleared shows your new multiplier.
4. Cash out or climb. The Cash out button now shows your harvest in money. Take it, or pick in the next row.
5. The end. The round finishes when you cash out, when a raven appears, or when you clear row 8 and the Harvest Moon pays automatically. Then every pumpkin on the field turns over to show where the ravens and lanterns really were.

Choosing your night
The night is the biggest decision you make, and it is made before the first pick.
Calm is for long climbs. With only one raven per row, clearing several rows in a row is common, but each step adds only a little. It is the night for players who enjoy seeing the field fill with gold.
Mist is the middle ground. Every pick is roughly a coin toss, and the multiplier grows quickly enough that two or three rows already feel like a real result.
Moonless is the dramatic option. Three ravens in every row means each step is a long shot, but the ladder rises steeply, all the way to 2,500× for the Harvest Moon. Even one or two rows can pay handsomely.
Planning where to stop
Every row on every night is set up so that cashing out early or late makes no difference to what the game pays over time. What changes is the shape of your session: many small harvests or a few big ones. That means the right cash-out row is the one that matches your mood, and it helps to pick it before you start.
The Autoplay panel makes this easy. Choose a row to cash out after, and the game will play your rounds and collect at that row each time, stopping on a big win if you ask it to. A Calm night with a cash-out after row 5, a Mist night with a cash-out after row 2, or a Moonless night collecting after the very first row are all reasonable, very different ways to play.
When the lantern shines
Some rows hide a lantern pumpkin in place of one of the golden ones. Uncover the lantern and it counts as gold. Uncover a raven in that same row and the Keeper raises his lantern, the raven flies off, and you climb anyway. Each row's lantern is drawn independently, so there is no pattern to learn; it is simply a second chance that turns up now and then, and one of the nicest moments in the game when it does.

Who will enjoy Midnight Harvest
It is a natural pick for players who like to stay in control: no reels spin unless you tap, and you always know exactly what you stand to win. It also adapts well to different moods thanks to the three nights. If push-your-luck card play appeals more than pumpkins, High Society offers the same cash-out-or-continue choice on a Hi-Lo table.
