In-depth review: Twin Owls review: a midnight hunt for matching brooches
The short version
Twin Owls is an instant pick-and-match game from Nocturn Play. A round costs one bet and lets you open 8 of the 20 cameos on a velvet tray. Two identical owl brooches make a pair and pay that owl's prize; a third one turns it into three of a kind, worth four times the pair. Each Moon Eye gives 2 more cameos to open, pairs of three different owls double every pair in the round, and the two Golden Twin Owls together pay 2,000 times the bet, the top prize. There are no reels and no bonus buy.
The atelier and its brooches

The scene is a Belle Époque jewellery workshop: glass cases, a magnifying glass on the bench, a candle burning and a full moon in the arched window. The cameos are carved with a crescent moon and set in gold with small amethysts. Under each one hides an owl brooch, a Moon Eye or a patch of empty velvet.
Eight owls can turn up, listed here from the smallest prize to the biggest: the Topaz Owl, the Pearl Owlet, the Moonstone Owl, the Onyx Owl, the Amethyst Eagle-Owl, the Ruby Barn Owl, the Sapphire Snowy Owl and, far above the rest, the Golden Twin Owls. The Night Collection panel on the right lists every brooch with its pair prize already converted for your bet.
How a round plays
Set the bet, press Play and the counter shows how many cameos you may open. Tap the ones you like, or press Open all. A pair is paid the moment the second matching brooch appears. Find a Moon Eye and the counter goes up by two. When the last pick is used, the cameos still closed are turned over so you can see the rest of the tray.
Margot the magpie, in a feathered hat and pearl necklace, sits on the bench to the left. Tap her during a round and she swoops on a cameo of her choosing and opens it for you.
Night Collection and the golden pair
Pair three different owls in the same round and the Night Collection is complete: every pair of that round pays double. The golden brooches play by their own rule. One golden owl alone is only a promise; find its twin and the round pays 2,000 times the bet, which is also the cap for any round.
Same luck on every cameo
The whole tray is laid out when the round starts. Whichever cameo you touch simply receives the next item, so choosing left, right, fast or with Margot's help changes nothing about the result.
