An arcade hunt in deep space
Nebula Hunters is a shooting game from Nocturn Play in the style of the classic fish shooters, moved out to an asteroid belt. There are no reels. Creatures cross an open scene and you fire at them from the turret at the bottom. Tap a spot to shoot there, hold your finger down to keep shooting, and watch the shots bounce off the edges until they find something. When a shot hits, it may capture the target, and a capture pays the target's multiplier times your bet. Small fry such as Star Minnows go down easily for little; a Comet Whale or the Golden UFO resists far longer and pays far more. A single hit can be worth up to 2,500× the bet.
Three weapons, three prices
Each shot costs your bet multiplied by the cost of the weapon you have selected.
- Plasma cannon, ×1: one bet per shot, one target at a time.
- Chain laser, ×4: strikes a first target, then jumps to four more.
- Gravity well, ×10: drags nearby creatures into a knot, then implodes on all of them at once.
Raising the bet also powers up the cannon through three levels. And a shot that hits nothing comes back to you: it is refunded.
Special targets
Three objects change the scene when caught. The Nova Bomb explodes and takes every creature around it. The Freeze Comet stops the whole belt for five seconds, which is the moment to line up difficult shots. Best of all is the Black Hole token: capture it and everything on screen is sucked into one point for a single combined prize.
Bosses
About once a minute a BOSS INCOMING alert sounds. The Titan Crab King, armoured and slow, and the Nova Serpent, fast and fierce, each pay a random multiplier when captured. The Void Leviathan is a different fight: its six shield panels must be broken in order, and each broken panel raises its multiplier. A health bar tracks your progress, and if a boss crosses the screen it gets away.
Auto, Lock and where to play
Auto keeps firing for you, and Lock follows the most valuable creature on screen, or the one you tap. Nebula Hunters runs in the browser on phones and computers; you can play it free on this page.
