In-depth review: Moonshot guide: how to choose your target
Moonshot at a glance
Moonshot belongs to the Nocturn Originals, the studio's line of short-round games. It is a limbo game: before you bet, you name a target multiplier. The rocket then launches, climbs and stops on a random multiplier. If that result is equal to or higher than your target, you are paid your bet times the target. If it falls short, the bet is lost. Targets go from 1.01× all the way up to 1,000,000×, which is also the maximum win.
Cosmo and the rocket
The star of the show is Cosmo, a ginger cat in a white spacesuit, red scarf and goggles, who stands on the launch pad with his arms crossed. His rocket is a brass-and-navy capsule with a crescent moon on the side. The target appears as a golden ring floating in the sky. Press Bet and the camera follows the rocket up through the city lights, the clouds, the stratosphere and into space, past the moon. Punch through the ring and you win; run out of thrust below it and the rocket sputters and drifts back down.

Target or win chance: you choose
Under the sky there are two linked fields. Type a target multiplier and the win chance updates by itself; type a win chance and the matching target is calculated for you. That makes the trade-off visible before you commit: a target of 2.00× hits often, a target of 100× rarely, and the payout follows the same logic. The "Profit on win" box shows exactly what the next launch would pay.
The bet amount has quick buttons to halve or double the stake. Each launch is a complete round on its own, so there is nothing to time and no button to press mid-flight.

Auto mode with stop rules
The Auto tab repeats the same shot as many times as you ask. You set the number of bets (zero means it keeps going until you stop it), then decide what happens to the stake after a win and after a loss: reset it to the starting amount, or raise it by a share you choose. Two optional limits, Stop on profit and Stop on loss, end the series automatically when your session reaches either line.
Why a single shot feels different
There is no waiting for the right moment in Moonshot, and no regret about pressing too early. All the thinking happens before the launch, when you pick the number. That suits players who like a plan: a session of steady low targets, a handful of bold ones, or a mix of both through the Auto tab. Each launch lasts only a few seconds, so a long series goes by quickly.
Moonshot and Limbo
Players who know Stake's Limbo will feel at home: same principle, same target and win chance fields. Moonshot wraps it in a launch sequence and a character, and lets the target go up to a million times the bet. If you prefer to decide during the round rather than before it, try the crash games Altitude Zero or Lumen Drift.

Moonshot is free to play on nocturnplay.com, in English and many other languages, on phone or desktop. The rest of the Nocturn Originals and every slot from the studio are in the full catalogue.
Frequently asked questions
How does Moonshot work?
You set a target multiplier, place a bet and launch the rocket. If the result reaches or passes your target, you win your bet multiplied by the target. Otherwise the bet is lost.
What targets can I choose?
Any value from 1.01× to 1,000,000×, to the hundredth. You can also enter a win chance and let the game work out the target.
What is the maximum win in Moonshot?
1,000,000 times the bet, by hitting the highest possible target.
Is there an auto mode?
Yes. Auto plays a series of launches with your rules for wins and losses, and can stop on its own when a profit or loss limit is reached.
