In-depth review: Leviathan Gold: a player's guide to the reef
An arcade fish game, not a slot
Leviathan Gold is a fish shooting game from Nocturn Play. There are no reels and no spin button. Sea creatures swim across a sunken city, your cannon sits at the bottom of the screen, and you tap or hold anywhere on the water to fire. Every creature carries a multiplier. Catch it and you win that multiplier times your bet per shot. A single impact can pay up to 2,000× the bet.
What swims past, and what it pays

The small fry come in numbers: the silver minnow pays 2×, the clownfish 3×, the yellow tang 4× and the blue tang 5×. Angelfish, pufferfish and lionfish follow at 6×, 8× and 10×. The middle of the reef belongs to the golden seahorse (12×), the moon jelly (15×) and the imperial koi (20×). Then the big ones arrive: the lantern angler at 25×, the crimson octopus at 30×, the great shark at 40× and the night manta at 50×. A treasure chest drifts by now and then and opens for 60×, 88×, 128× or 188×.
The angler and the octopus wear armour, and catching one can trigger a SUPER ×5, which multiplies their value by five. Two creatures behave differently again. The Thunder Jelly sends chain lightning to up to five nearby creatures and pays for them too, while the Blast Pearl explodes and takes up to eight creatures around it with it. Neither of them can drag a boss or another special creature into the catch.
Three weapons, three prices
The cannon costs one bet per shot and hits one creature; its rounds bounce off the edges of the screen until they find something, and a round that never hits anything is given back. The laser costs five bets and fires a beam that goes through the creatures in its path, up to twenty of them. The bomb costs fifteen bets: tap a creature and the blast reaches everything around it, up to thirty creatures. If nothing is in range, the bomb is refunded, and both laser and bomb cost less when what they reach is worth less than the full price. Raising the bet per shot also gives you a bigger cannon on screen.
Bosses and the fish tide

After a warning, either the Golden Dragon or the Kraken enters the reef. Catch the boss and a golden wheel spins for its multiplier: the dragon pays between 100× and 300×, the Kraken between 80× and 250×. Every few minutes a fish tide sweeps through and a whole school arrives in formation, which is the moment the laser earns its price.
AUTO fires non-stop for you, and LOCK picks the most valuable creature on screen and steers every shot at it; tap another target to switch. On a phone, the game plays in landscape and asks you to turn the screen sideways when you hold it upright.

Leviathan Gold can be played free on this site, straight from the browser. If you prefer the sea on reels, try Golden Abysses, or take on a different kind of fleet in Ghost Fleet. The rest of the catalogue is on the games page.
Frequently asked questions
How do you win in Leviathan Gold?
Shoot a creature and, if it is caught, you are paid its multiplier times your bet per shot. Bigger creatures pay more but take more luck to catch.
What do the laser and the bomb cost?
The laser costs 5 bets and pierces the creatures in a line, up to twenty. The bomb costs 15 bets and hits everything around the creature you tap, up to thirty creatures; it is refunded if nothing is in range.
How much do the bosses pay?
The Golden Dragon is worth 100× to 300× and the Kraken 80× to 250×, picked on a golden wheel when you catch them.
Is there a bonus buy?
No. Everything happens live on the reef: bosses and fish tides arrive on their own during play.
