How to back a swan in Gilded Swan Regatta

Gilded Swan Regatta is a calm game with a simple question at its heart: which swan, and how sure do you want to be? This guide helps you answer it, race after race.

Published 12 October 2026 · Updated 13 October 2026 · Nocturn Play

Gilded Swan Regatta is a race betting game by Nocturn Play in which six jewelled swans race across a lake under a full moon. You back one swan, either to win or to finish on the podium, and you are paid at the fixed odds shown on its card. Golden lily rings can multiply a winning bet, the Moonpath lights one lane each race, and the rare Crown of the Lake pays 2,000× the bet. Rounds take seconds, and you can race for free on nocturnplay.com without signing up.

How a race works

Tap one of the six cards at the bottom of the screen to choose your swan. Then pick Win or Podium with the two buttons above the cards, set your bet with the arrows on the right and press Race. The swans leave the shore together, glide along their rope lanes and cross under the arch at the far end. If your swan does what you backed it to do, the win is credited straight away.

The finishing order is fixed the moment you bet. The race you watch is a performance of that result, which is why there is nothing to steer and no point timing your bet. What you choose is the swan and the type of bet.

Reading the odds on the cards

Each card shows a multiplier: that is what a winning bet pays, times your stake. The six swans are not equally strong, and the odds reflect it. Sapphire, the favourite, carries the shortest price and wins more often than any other swan. Ruby and Amethyst follow, Gold and Pearl are longer shots, and Onyx, the black swan, is the outsider with odds above twenty to one on a Win bet.

A short price means frequent, modest wins. A long price means rare, larger ones. Neither is a better deal than the other; they are just different rhythms. If you switch from Win to Podium, the numbers on the cards change to the podium prices, which are always lower because three places pay instead of one.

Win or Podium: choosing your style

Podium on a favourite is the steadiest way to play. Sapphire or Ruby will reach the top three more often than not, and the wins are small but regular. Good for long, relaxed sessions.

Win on a favourite doubles down on the strongest swan for a better price. Expect a mix of wins and misses.

Podium on an outsider is a middle path: Pearl or Onyx do not need to win, only to finish in the first three, and the podium price on them is still decent.

Win on Onyx is the long shot. It will miss often, but when the black swan crosses first the payout is large, and it is the only kind of bet that can bring the Crown of the Lake on that swan.

Golden lilies, the Moonpath and the Crown, step by step

1. The lilies. They are drawn with the race when you bet and appear on the lanes as the swans set off. Some races have a ring of golden lilies floating on one or more lanes. A ring in your swan's lane boosts a winning bet, most often to double, now and then to triple.

2. The imperial lily. Very occasionally the ring is an imperial lily, worth ×25 on a winning bet.

3. The Moonpath. Every race, the moon picks one lane and lights it, and that swan puts on a short burst on screen. It is part of the show: the finishing order was fixed when you bet and the Moonpath does not change it.

4. The Crown. Three things must line up: the imperial lily floating in the moonlit lane, a Win bet on the swan in that lane, and that swan crossing first. Then you are crowned: the payout jumps to 2,000× the bet, the top prize in the game.

Lily multipliers apply to both Win and Podium bets. The Crown only to Win.

Setting a stake for a session

Because rounds are quick, it is easy to play a lot of races in a short time, especially with Auto and Turbo on. Decide your budget first, then pick a stake that gives you plenty of races. If you favour long shots like Onyx, use a smaller stake, since the gaps between wins are longer. If you prefer Podium on the favourite, the stake can be a little higher because the wins come more often. Switching swans between races changes nothing about the next result, and a swan that has lost five times in a row is no more or less likely to win the sixth. Follow your instinct, watch for lily rings as the race unfolds, and enjoy the scenery.

Who will enjoy the regatta

It is made for players who like fixed odds, quick results and a bit of elegance: candles on the balustrade, the moon on the water, a silver trophy waiting by the pavilion. It is also a gentle introduction for anyone new to casino games, since the only rule is to pick a swan. For something with more moving parts, try the drive of Gridiron Noir. Frequently asked questions

Which swan should I back?

There is no right answer. Sapphire wins most often at the lowest price, Onyx least often at the highest. Pick the rhythm you enjoy.

Does the Moonpath change who wins?

No. The result is decided when you bet, and the burst you see on the moonlit lane is only part of the show. The Moonpath lights one lane each race and matters for the Crown of the Lake when it meets an imperial lily.

Do golden lilies work on Podium bets?

Yes, a lily multiplies any winning bet on that swan. Only the Crown of the Lake is reserved for Win bets.

What is the most I can win in one race?

2,000× the bet, with the Crown of the Lake.

Is there a bonus round to buy?

No. Every race is independent and there is no buy feature.
