Black Jaguar Temple review: the cluster slot that builds its own board
Nine cells at the start, forty-nine if you keep winning. We break down how the temple grows, what wakes the jaguar and why this is our highest-paying game.
Published 4 October 2026 · Updated 5 October 2026 · Nocturn Play
Black Jaguar Temple is a cluster pays slot by Nocturn Play whose grid grows during play, from 3×3 up to 7×7. Groups of five or more matching symbols win and drop away, each winning drop adds a row or a column, and a full board wakes a black jaguar that multiplies the round. Released on 4 October 2026, it has the highest ceiling in the Nocturn Play catalogue: 10,000× the bet. You can try it free on nocturnplay.com.
A temple at night
Jade walls, obsidian steps, vines glowing with fireflies, and on the altar to the left a black jaguar fast asleep. The symbols belong to the same world: jade beads, night flowers, jaguar fangs and temple pottery at the low end, then the premium tier: jaguar idol, obsidian, golden sun and, worth most, the feathered serpent. The jade mask is the scatter. Nothing on screen is decoration for its own sake; even the stone plaque under the cat tells you the current size of the temple.
The rules in two minutes
- Pick your stake and spin. The first board is tiny: three by three.
- Five or more identical symbols touching edge to edge (not corner to corner) form a cluster and pay.
- The cluster bursts, fresh symbols fall in, and the drop repeats as long as new clusters appear.
- After each winning drop the grid adds a row or a column. A large burst can add both.
- The limit is 7×7. Reach it and the Awakening begins.
Golden cells, fireflies and the Awakening
Every time the temple grows, some of the new cells are golden. If a winning cluster covers golden cells, its payout gets +1 on the multiplier per golden cell underneath, and those cells then turn dark. A fast-growing round therefore leaves a trail of multiplier spots behind it.
Fireflies run in parallel. Each winning drop releases one, and when twelve have gathered the sky flares up and a surprise multiplier is attached to whichever winning drop comes next.
The Awakening is the headline. With every cell of the 7×7 board in play, the jaguar leaps off the altar and multiplies the full win of the round, then keeps multiplying each winning drop that follows. This is how a session can reach the 10,000× cap.

Worked example: from nine cells to thirty-six
You spin at 50 cents. Five night flowers touch in an L shape on the 3×3 board. They pay, burst, and the temple gains a column (3×4). New symbols tumble in, completing a cluster of six jaguar fangs; another win, another row (4×4), and this growth brings two golden cells. The next drop forms a seven-symbol obsidian group sitting on both golden cells, so its win is boosted by +2, and the cells go dark. Two more drops push the board to 6×6 before nothing new connects. The round ends one step short of the Awakening, with three fireflies freed toward the twelve.
Free spins: the temple stops shrinking
Land three or more jade masks anywhere and the free spins begin; the masks also pay on their own for three, four or five. During the bonus the board keeps its size between spins, so whatever you build stays built. Each mask that appears adds another golden cell, and three more masks award extra spins. If you would rather skip the wait, the bonus can be bought from the game screen.

Who should play it, and how
This is a slot for players who enjoy momentum. Early spins on a 3×3 board are modest by design; the value sits in rounds that chain drops together, and in a bonus where growth is permanent. Plan for that: a steady stake, a session long enough to reach the free spins, and patience with quiet stretches. Autoplay and turbo are both available if you want to cover more spins quickly.
Compared with Reactoonz and Jammin' Jars
Fans of Play'n GO's Reactoonz know the appeal of a 7×7 cluster grid with a meter that charges toward big events. Black Jaguar Temple flips the idea: the 7×7 board is the goal, not the starting point. Push Gaming's Jammin' Jars gets its excitement from wandering multiplier jars; here the multipliers are baked into the board as golden cells. On our own shelf, Zero Orbit is the cluster slot to try if you prefer a fixed 6×5 grid with planets that level up. The comparison page puts several of our games next to famous titles.
Mobile play
On a phone held sideways the growing board has room to breathe, and the firefly counter sits at the edge of the screen. Upright works too. It is the same HTML5 build on Android, iOS, tablets and desktop browsers.
Where to find it
