Firefly Sweets review: a match-3 game you can win money on

Not a slot, not quite a puzzle. Firefly Sweets puts the familiar swap-two-sweets gesture inside a casino game. Here is how the board, the multiplier and Sugar Night work.

Published 4 October 2026 · Updated 5 October 2026 · Nocturn Play

Firefly Sweets is a candy-matching casino game by Nocturn Play, played on a 7×7 board instead of reels. Every bet deals a new board on which one swap of two neighbouring sweets wins; the matched sweets clear away, the board refills, and each refill that matches again adds to a multiplier running from ×1 to ×10. Five fireflies freed in the same round open Sugar Night, with a multiplier from ×2 to ×60. Launched on 3 October 2026, its top prize is 1,000× the stake, and the full game is open to everyone for free on nocturnplay.com.

A sweet shop after closing time

The shop is lit by jars of fireflies. A fairy pastry chef and an old confectioner with wings keep you company while you play. The sweets have personality: a starry drop, a moon twist, a planet bonbon, an owl macaron, a jelly star and a wrapped toffee. If you have ever played a match-3 game on your phone, the board will look instantly readable.

How a bet plays out

You place your stake and a fresh board appears. Your task is to find the swap: exchange two neighbouring sweets so that three or more of the same kind line up. On each board, one swap is the winning one. The amount is already decided when you bet; finding the move simply reveals it, and if you take a while, a hint shows you where to look. Lined-up sweets disappear, replacements tumble down from above, and each fresh drop that creates another match adds one to the round multiplier, up to ×10.

Special sweets

  • Four in a line creates a shooting star that clears its whole row or column.
  • An L or T shape creates a lantern that bursts the sweets around it.
  • Five or more creates a crystal that removes every sweet of one colour.

Specials don't just clean the board; they free fireflies, and fireflies are the way into the bonus.

Sugar Night

Drops and special sweets release fireflies. If five fireflies are freed within the same round, Sugar Night begins. The jar does not carry anything over between bets, so each round is a fresh chance. Sugar Night gives you 8 moves; lit tiles pay double, and the multiplier starts at ×2 and can climb to ×60 without ever going down.

An example round

Bet of 100 rupees. The board appears, and after a moment you spot it: swapping a jelly star with the owl macaron below lines up four jelly stars. That creates a shooting star, which clears the column; sweets fall, a match of three moon twists forms on its own (multiplier ×2), and the falling sweets set off one more (×3). Three fireflies are freed in the process. The board settles. The round pays at ×3, and the firefly count starts again from zero with the next bet; two more would have been enough to start Sugar Night.

Who is it for?

Firefly Sweets is for players who want to do something with their hands instead of just pressing spin, and for anyone who finds reels repetitive. Rounds are short and readable. There is no bonus buy; Sugar Night only comes from play. The maximum is 1,000× the bet, lower than our slots, which makes it a lighter, steadier choice for a relaxed session. Autoplay plays the right move for you, and fast mode speeds up the drops.

How it compares

The gesture comes straight from casual puzzles such as Candy Crush, but Firefly Sweets is a casino game: the win is set when you bet, and there are no levels or lives. Compared with candy-themed slots such as Pragmatic Play's Sweet Bonanza or Sugar Rush, where the tumbles happen on reels without your input, here you make the move that starts the chain. On mobile

Swapping sweets with a finger is the most natural way to play this game, so phones are a perfect match. The 7×7 board fills an upright screen, and the multiplier stays visible above. No app needed, just a browser.

Play it or add it
