Black Vigil review: a noir slot with a vigilante wild

Rain on the rooftops, a masked figure on watch, and a free spins bonus that moves through three parts of the city. A look at how Black Vigil plays.

Published 4 October 2026 · Updated 5 October 2026 · Nocturn Play

What is Black Vigil? A dark, comic-noir line slot from Nocturn Play: 5 reels, 3 rows and a choice of 10, 20 or 30 lines. Its wild, the Warden, multiplies the lines he sits on by ×2, ×3 or ×5, a searchlight Signal can respin a losing spin, and three spotlights open The Manhunt, free spins played over three stages. First released on 1 October 2026 and refreshed on 3 October, its wins top out at 5,000× the stake, and nocturnplay.com hosts a free version that runs in any browser.

The city after midnight

Gothic towers, wet streets, a searchlight cutting through the clouds. A masked vigilante keeps watch over all of it. The reels are filled with the tools and faces of a crime story: a grappling hook, a police radio, an armoured gauntlet, a detective, a man in a top hat. It is the most cinematic theme in the Nocturn Play range, and the animations lean into it.

The basics

Choose 10, 20 or 30 lines. Your total bet is spread across them, so changing the line count doesn't change what you stake per spin, only how it is divided. Wins pay from left to right on active lines.

The Warden

The wild is the Warden, and he doesn't simply appear: he bursts out of the screen. Any line he helps complete is multiplied by ×2, ×3 or ×5. When several Wardens sit on the same line, their multipliers are multiplied together, so a ×3 and a ×5 on one line give ×15.

The Signal

A spin that pays nothing isn't always over. The searchlight can switch on, lock the first cells of a line and respin the other positions to try to complete it. It is a small feature, but it changes how dead spins feel.

The Manhunt in three acts

The bonus is unlocked by spotlights: get three or more, in any position. It is played in three stages: the Alleys, the Docks and the Tower. Each stage gives 4 free spins. Wardens that land stay locked in place until the end of the stage, and the win multiplier rises with each stage: ×1 in the Alleys, ×2 at the Docks, ×3 at the Tower. During the hunt, the searchlight can also drop an extra Warden onto the reels. The bonus can be bought for 100× the bet.

A Manhunt, stage by stage

Thirty lines, 3 dollars a spin. Three spotlights land and the hunt starts in the Alleys. On the second spin a ×2 Warden sticks on reel 3; on the fourth, the searchlight drops a ×3 Warden on reel 4. Both stay until the stage ends, giving a few multiplied lines at ×1. At the Docks, wins are doubled; a ×5 Warden arrives on the first spin and locks. In the Tower, every win is tripled, and a line with two Wardens of ×3 and ×5 pays ×15, then ×3 again for the stage.

Who it is for

Black Vigil is for players who like a story arc in their bonus and a base game with a bit of drama. The Manhunt is clearly where the big results live, and its later stages carry the heaviest multipliers. Two ways to approach it: patient spinning with autoplay and fast mode until the spotlights line up, or a direct buy at 100× for players who prefer to jump straight to the hunt. Either way, a steady stake works better than chasing.

Compared with gritty slots

In mood, Hacksaw Gaming's Wanted Dead or a Wild is a good reference: dark, cinematic, high-stakes, on a 5×5 grid with 15 lines and a 12,500× top win. Black Vigil keeps a classic 5×3 layout and focuses its tension on wild multipliers and a structured bonus with sticky Wardens. Mobile

The Warden's leap is designed to work on small screens too. In landscape the city skyline frames the reels; upright, the reels take the middle of the screen and the buttons sit below. One build, every browser.

Where to play

Black Vigil is free to play from its game page, and it lives in our slots section. For operators, it is one of the Nocturn Play titles active by default through SoftAggregator, with a single seamless wallet API and a price of 8% of GGR.
