Velvet Vault mines guide: greed, nerve and the cash-out button
In a mines game the only real enemy is the next tile. This guide looks at the settings that matter in Velvet Vault and at the habit that matters most: knowing when to stop.

Velvet Vault is a mines game from Nocturn Play's Originals range. On a 5×5 grid of 25 tiles you hide 1 to 24 black onyx mines, then open tiles one by one: each diamond raises the multiplier, a mine loses the bet, and you can cash out at any moment. Wins go up to 10,000× the bet, and every round can be verified with a seed revealed at the end. It is free to play on nocturnplay.com.
The heist, in pictures
Velvet Vault is a small caper. The tiles are slate-blue panels in a dark vault, and the burglar is Rocco, a raccoon with a mask he was born with, a purple waistcoat and a brass drill. Each time you choose a tile, Rocco jumps on it and drills. A diamond flashes up and drops into his velvet sack, which grows heavier with every find. A mine, a slab of black onyx, ends the job on the spot. When you cash out, the sack bursts open into your winnings.
Before the first tile: choosing the mines
The Mines menu is the game's difficulty setting, and it is worth thinking about rather than leaving on the default of 3. The rule of thumb is simple: more mines, steeper climb.
- 1 to 3 mines. Plenty of diamonds and a gentle rise. The first few tiles add only a little each, so it takes a long run to reach a big multiplier, but long runs are realistic.
- 5 to 10 mines. The middle road. Every diamond counts, and three or four picks already make a round worth cashing.
- 15 mines and more. Each safe tile is a real result and the multiplier jumps hard. Rounds are short, often one or two tiles.
- 24 mines. One diamond on the board. A single correct pick, a large payout, and nothing else to decide.
The label above the grid always tells you what the next tile is worth, so you can test a setting by looking at that number before you commit a cent.
The cash-out question
Every diamond leaves you with the same choice: take the multiplier now or try one more tile. There is no secret right answer; each new tile is a fresh gamble with the mines that are still hidden. What helps is deciding in advance. Pick a target before the round starts, for example "I cash out at three diamonds", and stick to it. Players who decide tile by tile tend to stop one tile too late.
There are two automatic exits as well. If you find every diamond, the round pays itself. And if the next tile would take the multiplier beyond 10,000×, the game pays you at the cap instead of letting you go further.
One round, from bet to sack
You stake 50 cents and set 5 mines, leaving 20 diamonds. Rocco drills the corner tile: diamond, and the next-tile label moves up. You try the centre: diamond again. A third pick near the edge: diamond, the sack is visibly fuller now. Your plan was three, so you press Cash out, and the sack bursts into 50 cents times the multiplier on screen. The board then reveals itself: two of the mines were on tiles right next to your last pick. That is the moment players remember, and the reason a plan beats a hunch.

Autobet with tile patterns
In the Auto tab, Velvet Vault asks you to select on the board the tiles to open in each round. Choose two tiles and every automatic round opens those two, then cashes out if both are diamonds. You also set the number of rounds, the reaction of the bet after a win or a loss, and stop limits for profit and loss. Small patterns on few mines make for a slow, steady series; large patterns or many mines make each round all-or-nothing. If you only want help choosing in manual play, Pick random tile does exactly that, one tile at a time.
Checking the vault was sealed
A common worry with mines games is whether the board changes after you click. In Velvet Vault the server places all mines the moment you bet and shows you a fingerprint of the round's secret seed straight away. When the round ends, the seed is revealed. The Fairness panel lets you compare them: if they match, the grid you played was fixed before your first tile.
Who will enjoy it
Velvet Vault is made for players who want decisions in every round, not just a spin button. It suits crypto-casino regulars who know the mines format, slot players curious about a game where they choose when to stop, and anyone who likes a short, tense loop on a phone. Rounds can last two seconds or two minutes, depending entirely on you.

Frequently asked questions
How many mines should I choose in Velvet Vault?
It depends on the round you want: few mines for long, gentle climbs, many mines for short rounds with big jumps per diamond.
Is there a best moment to cash out?
No tile is safer than another. Set a target before the round, like a number of diamonds, and cash out when you reach it.
How does autobet choose tiles?
You select the tiles on the board yourself; each automatic round opens those tiles and cashes out if they are all diamonds.
What does the seed fingerprint prove?
That the mines were placed when you bet and not moved during the round: the revealed seed must match the fingerprint shown at the start.
Can I play Velvet Vault for free?
